Q: What are the class designations? A: There are five (5) model year classes broken down into four (4) mileage classes further divided by four (4) modification classes. Color will not be used as an ISSCA judging category. Below is an example of the classes along with the ISSCA awarded places. Year: 94, 95, 96 Impala SS Mileage: Sunday Driver, Occasional Driver, Frequent Driver, & Daily Driver Modification: Stock, Mild Street, Street, & Modified
Sunday Driver- (0 through 49,999 miles) Stock- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Mild Street- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Street- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Modified- 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
Occasional Driver- (50,000 to 99,999 miles) Stock- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Mild Street- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Street- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Modified- 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
Frequent Driver- (100,000 to 149,999 miles) Stock- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Mild Street- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Street- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Modified- 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
Daily Driver- (150,000 Miles and up) Stock- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Mild Street- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Street- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Modified- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Q: Why was mileage chosen as a division and how were the classes figured? A: In the interest of fairness to those that drive their cars daily or at least very often, they should not have to compete with those that have not driven their cars as much and subjected them to the harsh environment of the road. Likewise, those that have put excessive amounts of miles on their cars, yet maintained an exceptionally clean appearance, should be rewarded when judged against their peers. Q: How do I know what modification class I am in? A: There are four (4) modification classes. Below is a brief description of each class and their qualifications. STOCK: Stock is defined as the way the vehicle was shipped from the factory. Any visual modification will "bump" the vehicle into the next higher modification class. (Examples: Red Bow Tie, Cross Flags, CD Changer, etc. There are several exceptions. For details go to http://www.goissca.org/issca_cs_class.htm MILD STREET: This class allows up to 20 visible modifications. For details go to http://www.goissca.org/issca_cs_class.htm
STREET: This class allows from 21 to 30 visible modifications. For details go to http://www.goissca.org/issca_cs_class.htm
MODIFIED: This class is for everyone else. For details go to http://www.goissca.org/issca_cs_class.htm Q: Why isn’t there a color breakdown ? A: There are several reasons ISSCA does not include color as a classification. It keeps the number of awards at a reasonable level. If you had just two driver classes and used only two (2) mileage classes and added colors, you would have a possibility of 216 awards per show for Impalas only. This is not even counting the other six (6) categories of "Other than Impala and Station Wagon classes" and the six (6) Station Wagon Classes. If the color breakout is not used, the awards number is still over a hundred (144 possible) for the Impalas only. It creates less segregation among the Impala community. All b-bodies can compete against one another regardless of color or model. Q: Will there be specialty awards given out at ISSCA shows? A: Additional specialty awards (example- Best Paint, Best Engine, etc.) are optional according to the event and the level of support afforded the sponsoring club. If you would like to see additional awards for areas like Best Engine, Best Paint, etc., be sure to contact us via email at CarShow@goissca.org with your comments. Q: Do I get to see what the judging sheet will look like before the show? A: We can do you one better than that. We will show you what the judging sheet looks like for every show that is sponsored by ISSCA, and we can show it to you right now. For details go to http://www.goissca.org/cs_judging.pdf. This is one of the perks of establishing the judging standards. You know the ISSCA criteria and standard class breakdowns before each show season, not days before each show. Q: Where do I register for upcoming events? A: Just watch the Car Shows link on the ISSCA website at http://www.goissca.org/. There will be information and instructions on what and where everything is happening. Q: Do you have any tips, on how I can win an award? A: Look at the judging sheet. It will tell you exactly what areas are to be judged and how many points you can receive for each area. Another tip is to make sure your car is open and accessible to be looked at by the judges. Judges will not open the hood, trunk, or doors of a closed vehicle for the purpose of judging. That means that if your vehicle is not open, then you will not be assessed any points for these areas. However, if there are windy, dusty, and/or rainy conditions, exceptions are made. As long as the doors are ajar and the trunk and hood are not fully latched closed, your car will be judged. One last piece of advice, if you can see it, clean it! Any other questions or comments can be sent via email to: CarShow@goissca.org
